NoBa - North Baltica Contemporary Arts was founded by Latvian/Canadian artists who aim to support international contemporary art and design on an inclusive platform in a collaborative environment.
North Baltica - expresses their presence on the continent of North America while their history stems from the Baltics.
Baltica refers to the regional area of the Baltics before borders and countries were defined.
In this way, North Baltica represents a creative place without borders and a focus on international, cross-continental inclusion through the expression of contemporary art.

Flowing through the world due to personal, political, and aspirational situations, we evolve what it means to be ‘from’ somewhere and how our identity transforms through these shifts. Contemporary art expresses the concepts of our current human condition in a way that is still undefined and open to interpretation. Through the presentation of contemporary art we are able to see through the eyes of another, and imagine another path travelled on our timeline. Contemporary art teaches us about alternative approaches and perspectives while disclosing personal stories where we can find the
elements that unite us and make us individuals.
NoBa believes it is important to form strong connections with artists and communities both in person and virtually, creating the strength and dynamism that bonds the members of this group to their country of origin and connects them to sharing with creatives throughout the world.

Through the interdisciplinary art practices of NoBa members, we recognize that a creative mind is the life force that gives support through the challenges of displaced living and cultural adaptation through growth, sharing and expression of personal identity.
